Upgrades abound in the 2022 D-Max range, with a massive 24 configurations to choose from. Isuzu expanded the cab sizes, engine options and upgrade packages, then fast-tracked the upgrades to meet Australia’s growing demand.
3. Mazda BT-50 – January 2022

Mazda’s 2022 BT-50 spectrum has some top-of-the-range options that position the ute as a rival to the Ranger. With 25 variants across the XS, XT, XTR, GT, SP and Thunder badges, Mazda’s enhanced 2022 crop packs some serious muscle wrapped in leather-trimmed comfort.
4. Volkswagen Amarok W580X – expected April 2022

After the success of last year’s on-road S model, Volkswagen is roaring into 2022 with the off-road ready W580X. 5. Mitsubishi Triton – January 2022

The reconfigured Triton range is simplified and affordable, starting at less than $24,000 (before on-road costs). With optional upgrade packs featuring surround-view cameras and a luxury interior, the 2022 Triton range builds on the success of 2019’s major updates.
Will Australia get a new Toyota HiLux in 2022?
Unfortunately it looks like we won’t see a new HiLux this year.
Europe will get three new models, including an upgraded dual-cab GR Sport. However, Toyota is staying quiet on Australian release plans.
Maybe Toyota is letting Ford take a run at the top spot this year. Or maybe, just maybe, 2022 is the year we see the long-awaited Toyota Tundra released in right-hand drive.
